MIAMI OPEN ARTS FEST (MOAF)
Celebrates its seventh edition highlighting local talent
From September 13 to October 13, Miami will be the stage for the seventh edition of the Miami Open Arts Fest (MOAF) under the motto “Arts in motion.” This year, the festival highlights the work of local groups and artists, and offers an attractive program that includes music, visual arts, literature, theater for adults and children. The MOAF remains a reference in the city’s cultural agenda, offering a wide range of artistic expressions that reflect the diversity of local talent.
The festival will open on September 13 with the exhibition “Unleashed Emotions: A Journey of Color” by visual artist Bibiana Cervantes. The evening, directed by visual artist Carlos Artime, will be enriched by a performance by pianist Hilda Oramas.
The forum “Female Voices in Children’s Literature in Miami” will take place on Sunday, September 15 at 5:00 p.m. and will feature the participation of Jenny Lizárraga, Rita Rosa Ruesga, Maricel Mayor Marzán, Maylén Domínguez, Mayra Sablón and Cristina Keller, hosted by Betty Quintero.
Factory Theater will stage “No Exit”, an adaptation of “Behind Closed Doors” by Jean Paul Sartre, on September 20, 21 and 22. Directed by Erom Jimmy and produced by Nabilah Fernández, the play explores themes of condemnation and forced coexistence in a closed space.
Dreki Theater premieres the play “Asesinos” at the Artefactus theater, written and directed by José Raúl Acosta, on September 27, 28 and 29. This psychological drama delves into the dark corners of the human mind and the manipulations of power, questioning truth and justice.
Artefactus, in collaboration with the Cuatrogatos Foundation, presents two free events: on Friday, October 4, a meeting with Garcilaso Pumar, director of Alliteration and Lugar Común, and on Saturday, October 5, a look at love and erotic literature in the voices of actors Mabel Roch and Juan David Ferrer.
On Sunday, October 6 at 5:00 p.m., Parabajitos, together with Artefactus and the Cuatrogatos Foundation, will stage “La cucarachita Martina y el ratón Pérez”, directed by Sara Miyares. Free admission.
To close the festival, Thymele Teatro, in collaboration with Artefactus Cultural Project, will present “Cintas de seda”, a staging by Jorge Luis González Herrera in a version of the poetic drama of the same name by Norge Espinosa. Two actresses evoke Frida Kahlo and Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz through color, words, love and transcendence. The performances will take place on October 11, 12 and 13.
