Artefactus kicks off the fourth edition of the Open Arts Fest Miami, Arts in Motion, on September 11 at 8:30 p.m., with a solo show by ceramist Manuel Pérez, titled The Sublime and Being. Pérez was born in Cuba, studied philosophy, and has been self-taught in the field of visual arts.
His pieces represent misjudged faces and poorly viewed situations, typical of hasty conclusions. Between sad, empty, vain faces or manipulable clay bodies, the artist expresses his concepts about our everyday reality.
The show is a very eclectic proposal, in which trends from the avant-garde of the 20th century emerge, such as expressionism, his minimalist practice, his taste for the figurative, and his conceptual narrative are also evident.
